Il viaggio è quanto mai traumatico, per quanto mi riguarda: mi sento molto poco bene e due ore di tragitto in pullman non aiutano certo a migliorare la situazione; panico generale, invece, a pochi metri dalla nostra destinazione, quando l’autobus effettua una manovra degna di un parcheggiatore abusivo, rischiando di precipitare nel vuoto da centinaia di migliaia di millimetri: il paese si trova infatti nella alta val di Taro, a circa 519 metri di altitudine.

Perché Compiano? Perché è un “borgo fra i più belli d’Italia„, come recita il depliant informativo del Castello di Compiano, situato sulla sommità più alta del paese e meta del nostro lungo viaggio. Visto dal castello il borgo è davvero molto bello, con le sue piccole vie fra le colline circondate dalle antiche mura.

È il mio primo company meeting da quando lavoro in Funambol: la mattinata inizia, ovviamente, dalla colazione, seguita immediatamente da due meeting molto interessanti ed a tratti anche particolarmente divertenti, che ci tengono incollati alle sedie fino all’ora di pranzo. Il convito è ottimo, ricco di piatti a base di funghi, specialità del luogo. Dopo una passeggiata nel parco del castello, con l’immancabile foto di gruppo, il pomeriggio è scandito da altri meeting fino a sera, momento del ritorno.

L’autista del pullman, dopo aver perso qualche anno di vita all’andata, decide di affrontare la curva per scendere dai colli parmensi in maniera molto più umana ed il viaggio di ritorno risulta essere molto piacevole: verso le nove di sera sono finalmente a casa. Certamente una giornata molto particolare ed interessante: peccato per il maltempo che ci ha impedito di verificare appieno il fatto che Compiano sia definito uno dei borghi più belli d’Italia; di certo un luogo da tenere conto per qualche futura gita.

The project, named Lion from L10n (were 10 is the number of characters between “L„ and “N„ in the word localization), is now focused on Italian, Spanish, French, German, Japanese and Arabic translations of software, online help and Funambol Community Forge. Let’s say something about Funambol and the iPhone client: if you sign up to Funambol’s free beta portal (myFunambol), you will be able to synchronize over-the-air contacts between your mobile device and your personal computer; Funambol provides clients for Outlook and over 1,000 different mobile devices. And since everything is Open Source, Funambol Community has written dozens of plugins. You can try it for free:

What to say about the iPhone itself? I didn’t try it yet, but I think it is a very cool device with some wonderful features, such as the very big screen and the famous multi-touch, and some problems, such as the price; anyway, the worst thing about the iPhone is that it makes people to argue for “nothing„: I saw people tell others they are stupid because they want/don’t want it and I personally laugh when I see these things. Do you like it? Let’s buy. Do not like? Leave it on the shelf. I think it is quite easy; maybe not for everyone.
